Banksy and the Rise of Outlaw Art by BC on Nov 2, 2021
:artist: (ENGLAND) Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist, and film director. His real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation. He has also made good from his collection of "Illegal Art". First displaying work on walls for buskers, the movement has blossomed into an artform unto itself.

Presenting art in Bristol along with artists like "3D" and "Broken Brain", the movement's attitude can be seen in his film "Exit through the gift shop". Watching some of the films, one can't help but chuckle at the absurdity of Banksy.

Using stencils and computers, Banksy approaches 3D from different perspectives. However, many artworks have been vandalized, painted over, or destroyed.

Banksy's works have dealt with various...

The festival will not only feature daytime performances but nighttime performances as well. The international event will feature buskers from across Canada, the United States, and Argentina including some who have broken several world's records.

Jason Henderson is the festival’s artistic director and can be seen walking over glass barefoot while juggling fire among other amazing feats. He said the idea for holding the event came last year on Canada Day.

The New Hot 105.5 FM radio station is the media sponsor for the buskerfest. Other performers for the initial event will include Victor Rubilar, Fire Guy, James Jordan, Trulee Odd, and Dave Cox.

Busker now a fashionable title by BC on Dec 9, 2008
:spotlight: (BUSKING) It seems as little as ten years ago, the term "busker" or "street performer" was looked upon with disdain. Suddenly, now it's the "in" title to tell new-found friends and acquaintances. Strange as it may seem, public perception has shifted in favor of said buskers. The internet has seemed to have had a positive impact on the perception of street performers world-wide.

Wannabe buskers abound on the internet. Some sites have sections dedicated to busking. Unfortunately, once entered, one finds several performers that have only been thinking about busking but somehow never found the backbone to discard their day job to busk full-time. This may be a good thing, however, as some may not have what it takes to begin with. It would probably only add to the long lines at the unemployment office.

Philadelphia Freedom: The 10 Best Buskers and their videos by BC on Jan 1, 2014
:guitar: (PHILADELPHIA) Let's take a trip down the way to see the 10 best buskers Philly has to offer - at least that's the working theory.

Although some are wondering where Gregory Underwood, the U of Arts students, and the B-boys-breakers are, it's a safe bet that these street-performers represent the city well.

Relax watching the "King of the buskers" featuring street-musicians doing what they do best - covers. But not all buskers featured fall into this category. There are rappers, guitarists, hang drums, and crooners. There is hip-hop, classic folk, and upbeat, jazzy wooden flute styles.

Songs include, "Eat, sleep, sh!t, work", "Smoke on the water", “A Change Is Gonna Come”, "Counting Your Curses", and "Fanfare" among others. But don't take our word for it. Go ...
